 How Domestic Refrigerator works?

Refrigeration defined as, the temperature of refrigeration system maintain below atmospheric temperature is known as Refrigeration System. R134a is a refrigerant currently used in refrigeration system.

How Domestic Refrigerator Works?

Domestic Refrigerator.

Domestic refrigerator system mainly work on Vapour Compression System i.e. VCC.

Main Components of VCC System-

  1. Hermetically sealed Compressor.
  2. Condenser.
  3. Expansion valve i.e. Capillary Tube or Thermostat
  4. Evaporator.

1) Hermetically sealed compressor-

Function of compressor is to increase the pressure & temperature of vapour refrigerants by compressing refrigerated gas i.e.Freyon 
Compressor consist of black color coating on it known as Hermetically Sealed. It's function is te minimize the noise of compressor during compression.

 2) Condenser-

The compressed refrigerant enters in condenser in which temperature of refrigerant decreases by maintaining constant pressure of refrigerant. Condenser convert vapour refrigerant into 100% liquid form.

3) Expansion valve i.e. Capillary Tube 

As liquid refrigerant enters in capillary tube Throttling process take place. In which sudden expansion of refrigerant take place due to the this pressure & temperature goes decreasing & finally we get partial vapour partial liquid refrigerant.

 4) Evaporator-

  It's another type of heat exchanger whose main function is ti exchange heat between hot media towards cold & providing cooling effect. As partial vapour partial liquid refrigerant enters into it get converts into vapour by absorbing heat & finally it provides cooling effect at inside.

Refrigerant is a basically flowing medium which flows in entire refrigerant system by absorbing heat & provides cooling effect in it.






Different types of refrigerants-

  1.  R12.
  2.  R32
  3.  R22.
  4.  R134a.
  5.  R401a.
